Camp information:

Comfort set in vibrant and rustic coloured interiors, Deception Valley Lodge accommodates up to sixteen people on a sharing basis. The lodge is private and restful. Attention has been given to every detail ensuring you a completely different experience, in an arid Kalahari bush land stretching for miles. Each unit stands separately, on stilts connected with the main lodge by wooden walkways.

The main complex boasts a dining room, lounge and bar area decorated in warm Kalahari colours making use of Bushmen and other African artifacts. From the deck you can view activities at the nearby water hole. A curio shop and small library forms part of the complex. The lodge has an ethnic African theme and was build to fit into the surrounding bush without altering, damaging or detracting from its ambience and colour.

A swimming pool situated close to the main complex, enhances the enjoyment of guests. The boma features prominently during the African nights when guests enjoy their dinner while gazing across a clear night sky.

Game Viewing:

* Grass eaters: zebra, wildebeest, hartebeest,
* Mixed eaters: eland, ostrich, oryx
* Defoliaters:kudu, giraffe, steenbok, duiker
* Predators: jackal, caracal, brown hyena, leopard and lions could be seen, while wild dog and cheetah visit the area ocationaly with lots of other smaller nocturnal species.

NOTE: During rainy season with the abundance of water and food the animals are more scattered and more difficult to find where as in the dry period they congregate around the water wholes which make game viewing a lot better. However in the rainy season the Kalahari offers a spectacular display of birds, flowers and thunderstorms. Birds

There are a more than 200 bird species on the property ensuring a diverse experience for enthusiastic bird watchers. In summer an abundance of migrating birds, makes it a birders paradise. Through out the year many rear endemic species are resident in the area.

Activities:

* Games drives with open 4X4 vehicles
* Night drives to explore the nocturnal species
* Bird watching - over 200 species, from the deck at the main lodge or in a hide at one of the water holes
* Nature walks with experienced guides
* Guided walks with the Bushmen to explore their culture, survival and hunting skills and their extraordinary knowledge of the veldt and animal life.

Interact with the Bushmen of the Kalahari on one of the Cultural walks with Bushmen at Deception Valley Lodge.
* Specialized guided walks - survival of plant, animal and man in this arid semi desert.
