Camp information:

Chilwero, means “place of high view” in the local language of Setswana. The lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia.

Chobe Chilwero has 15 stone & thatched bungalows, 6 king and 9 twin. Each cottage measures 61 square metres and has its own en-suite bathroom with a large sunken bath, indoor and outdoor showers, private garden with hammock, “sala” or private balcony, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, hairdryer, minibar as well as an in-room safe.

The main public area includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios.

The wine cellar is temperature controlled and houses a large variety of the finest South African and European wines.

A range of spa treatments are offered at Chobe Chilwero, which are usually done inroom but may also be set up at the swimming pool.

The lodge also boasts a split-level swimming pool, library, curio shop and an ecommunications centre, which offers telephone, fax and internet access.

Electricity, 240 volts, is permanently supplied.

Activities:

Chobe National Park covers a diversity of landscapes ranging from riverine forests to floodplains and periodic marshlands. The area is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, as well as an abundance of hippo, buffalo, antelope and lion.

Game-drives; Highly qualified professional guides lead game drives in customised open 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles.

Motorised boat safaris; Explore floating safaris by especially adapted safari motorboats (offered throughout the year).

Sundowner Cruises; are spectacular for sunsets on the Chobe River.

Fishing excursions; are also available at an additional cost (pre-booking is advised.)

On day trips to Victoria Falls, you can bungee jump, river raft, microlite, tether balloon, shop, tour the Falls, visit the cultural village, or go elephant back riding. Scenic flights over four countries are also offered (additional cost).
